Safe Passage helps child victims of abuse tell their story and begin their journey toward hope and recovery. We coordinate the responses of partners in the law enforcement, medical, mental health, social services, and legal fields in one child-sensitive location. These efforts ensure child victims and their non-offending caregivers achieve justice, hope, and recovery.
We act as the team leader for all professionals involved in child abuse so investigations are streamlined and child-focused. In fact, the entire facility was designed with the hurting, scared, and sensitive child in mind. In its 25 years, Safe Passage has supported and protected more than 20,000 child victims and their non-offending caregivers.
Safe Passage needs adult volunteers to supervise children in the playroom before and after they receive services and administrative volunteers to help answer phones and complete clerical tasks.
El Paso County has the unfortunate distinction of the largest number of child abuse and neglect cases of any county in Colorado since 2009.
“Everyone was friendly and showed concern for both my daughter’s and my own well being. I appreciate that the volunteers and employees were kind, helpful and present.” — Parent of a child victim
