PPSPP serves our community in the effort to save lives! We provide free individual therapy, weekly peer support groups, suicide prevention trainings and we host and participate in suicide prevention awareness events. Our goal is to help provide and connect the community with the resources needed to prevent suicide. PPSPP also answers the call for needed support when tragedy strikes by providing postvention supports.
We know that reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors prevents suicide. 80% of individuals who die by suicide tell someone or give clues of their intentions in the days leading up to their death. The more people in our community who know what to look for and how to respond, the more lives we can save. By providing support services to those suffering and considering suicide, lives will be saved.
PPSPP is in need of art supplies, snacks for groups, an unlocked high quality cell phone, a projector and screen, portable PA System, and volunteers for our Community Resources Liaison Desk.
In 2015-2018, 4,597 Coloradans died by suicide. 659 of those deaths occurred in El Paso County. El Paso County leads the state in deaths by suicide.
“I attempted suicide 4x in 2019. The free services at PPSPP have given me the help I desperately need. I access a weekly support group and individual therapy at PPSPP. I am improving and for once, I can look forward to the future.” — Anonymous adult program participant.
