Paws N Hooves Rescue

Paws N Hooves Rescue (formerly Black Forest Animal Sanctuary, Southern Colorado Animal Rescue) is the only all-animal, all-volunteer rescue and rehab group in Southern Colorado. We are dedicated to helping animals that are abused, abandoned, neglected or no longer wanted by their current owners. While they are at our farm or a foster home we provide care and training while finding a suitable permanent home. Our passion is to rescue animals from euthanasia lists at public shelters.

For over 20 years we have served the Pikes Peak region rehabilitating and finding homes for thousands of animals. Our rescue teams respond at all hours during community emergencies, disasters, or to assist local law enforcement to protect animals that we love. We believe in a no-kill philosophy. We give animals like Squiggly the pig a second chance for a new home.

Volunteers to feed, walk and groom animals; temporary foster homes for animals; handyman repairs; organization/group projects; and hay, livestock feed, alfalfa hay cubes and chicken feed.

Of the dogs entering public shelters approximately 31 percent are euthanized. We take dogs from death row and find them a new home, and some become service animals.

“We adopted Trent which Paws N Hooves Rescue saved from a shelter euthanasia list. I have MS and had just lost my service animal. He gives me a reason to get out of bed every day.” — Rachaelnike Jacobs, adopter
