We help LGBTQ+ youth discover their potential to thrive! IOYS is a safe space, education, and advocacy center visited by more than 600 young people ages 13-24 each year, virtually or in person. Together, we build community resilience through life skills and healthy relationships, a food pantry and clothing closet, writing poetry and making art, dancing at Queer Prom, and receiving personalized mentoring from trusted adults.
Inside Out (est. 1990) is the only LGBTQ+ youth serving community center in El Paso and Teller Counties; we advocate for and alongside young people to make the world safer and more accepting of sexual and gender diversity. Every young person deserves a place where they can be supported and affirmed for exactly who they are! Our lifesaving work is upstream prevention of suicide, homelessness, harassment, and discrimination.
Program and community dinner sponsors, a van or small bus for transportation, development/events committee members, board members, specialized volunteers
The presence of just one trusted adult in a young person’s life reduces risk of suicide by 40%. IOYS also provides free mental health counseling to keep youth safe.
“I was born in the wrong body and was full of fear, confusion, and grief, about to be swallowed by the darkness. But IOYS helped me see I am actually beautiful and lovable. I now have the courage to be myself without shame and know I deserve to live.” — Charlie, they|them, age 16
