H.E.A.R.S., founded in 1988 by local Sertoma Clubs, provides hearing aids with professional audiological services to those who cannot afford them (100 percent subsidy for those at or below 125 percent of federal poverty income). Two-thirds of H.E.A.R.S. clients pay only $20 for new digital hearing aids — with over 2,200 lower-income El Paso County residents getting the “gift of hearing” since our founding.
Only one program for the needy in the Springs provides fully subsidized hearing aids with professional audiology services —H.E.A.R.S.! Our average client cost is over $750 and we make it work! H.E.A.R.S. allows some of our neediest to again hear effectively — to enjoy music, work, socialize, etc.
H.E.A.R.S. gets great discounts on hearing aids, utilizes existing professional audiologists and spends next to nothing on administration. Due to our very efficient model, we just need funding.

“It is wonderful to be able to hear what my boss wants me to do without asking him to repeat his orders. Many people have told me that they are thankful not to yell anymore to get my attention and they don’t have to repeat what they said.” — Bruce C., H.E.A.R.S. client
