Diakonia (Greek for “service”) exists to provide the highest-quality preschool experience to children in our community who need it most. It combines a holistic education approach and tuition assistance in five high-impact, community-center preschools throughout Colorado Springs — all designed to combat generational poverty and provide the foundation for future success.
In seven years, Diakonia has grown from a single preschool to five community-based sites impacting 150 children and their families daily, year-around, and approximately 1,000 students total. Diakonia specifically targets children from low-income households. The preschools represent a proactive approach to educating both the child and the family, creating relationships essential for future success.
Financial support for tuition assistance (monetary donations qualify for 50-percent state tax credit); volunteers to help in the classrooms.

A child without preschool is more likely to be at risk for teen pregnancy, becoming a school drop-out and being arrested for juvenile offenses later in life.
“When we found Diakonia Preschools we saw a huge bright light. Something new and exciting for our daughter, but also for us. We are so thankful.”
