Diakonia (Greek for service) exists to provide high quality preschool to children. It combines a holistic educational approach and offers four distinct schools, each with their own methods to meet the needs of the children in their community including offering an affordable fee structure — all with the ultimate goal of combating generational poverty and providing the foundation for future success.
In eight short years, Diakonia has grown from one small preschool to four community-based preschools located throughout the city, impacting 150 children and their families annually and approximately 1,000 students since its inception! Diakonia specifically targets children from low-income households. The preschools educate both the child and the family, creating relationships essential for future success.
Classroom volunteers to help in the preschools, professional volunteers to teach financial literacy and other life skills to parents, and volunteers to help with building, cleaning, etc.

“Diakonia has loving, caring teachers who make a point to communicate with me every day. Our kids, and the world, would be a better place if ALL teachers were as concerned as the Diakonia teachers are!” — Hillside parent
