Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association

What:

The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association attracts some of the finest young musicians between the ages of 6 and 18 in the Pikes Peak region. We strive to nurture and grow their talent, offer experiences that broaden their repertoire, and help them develop as performers and responsible, conscientious young adults. We also work to enrich and encourage local school music programs and inspire an interest in music.

Why:

At a time when music programs are underfunded, we work to ensure that any child who wants to learn a string instrument and perform with an orchestra has the opportunity to do so. Our ensembles serve over 500 young musicians including eight auditioned large groups, five chamber ensembles, and five sites for our beginning strings instruction. Our students learn leadership, teamwork, dedication, and commitment, and their successes demonstrate the value delivered by an inspired education!

Needs:

Financial assistance for underprivileged youths; Manhasset music stands; grand piano; office supplies.

Did you know?

In 1980 we began with 70 musicians and gave one performance the first season. Today, we present 60-plus performances a year regionally, nationally and internationally.

“The CSYSA has a great tradition of producing accomplished musicians, which doesn’t come out of a vacuum — it’s an excellent organization deserving of recognition.”
